is celebrated around the world as an
opportunity to promote and celebrate the positive
impact of international education and cultural
exchange. Started as a joint initiative between
the U.S. Departments of State and of Education, IEW is part of the effort to promote global
learning and encourage future leaders to benefit
from study and exchange programs in the United
States. During IEW 2010 USEFP hosted a series of
events in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad to
celebrate the achievements of Pakistani students
and to promote higher education options in the
U.S, pulling a crowd of over 700 nationwide.
Celebrations were anchored around three main
audiences: students, counselors and heads of
educational institutions. Media was actively
engaged to spread the word around. Various live
radio shows also were also aired on the occasion
across Pakistan. You can listen to one of the
programs aired on FM 94 in the advising section of
this newsletter.
Fulbright, Community College and Undergraduate
Program grantees keep on making news by taking
great initiatives, including community service and
fundraising for flood relief, or having splendid
achievements in terms of awards and other
recognitions. Alumni are also active in serving
the community and have contributed towards flood
relief efforts. This fall, several U.S. Fulbright
Scholars have shared their knowledge and
experience at universities and conferences in
Islamabad and Lahore, as well as in lectures at
USEFP. With deadlines of various U.S. colleges and
universities approaching, a large number of
students appeared for the SAT (400) and GRE(112)
exams via USEFP Testing Centers.
