U. S. Educational Foundation in Pakistan Announces

OPPORTUNTIY FOR SECONDARY LEVEL ENGLISH TEACHERS AND THEIR SCHOOLS

Apply now for an opportunity to build advanced skills in English language teaching at the secondary level at The George Washington University in Washington , D.C. , U.S.A. Spend 6 weeks at the GWU English Language Institute with other teachers from South Asian secondary schools, learning advanced methodologies for teaching English and developing awareness of U.S. culture and society.

To apply, individuals must meet the following requirements:

1. Teach English full time as a language teacher at the secondary school level.

2. Document Pakistani citizenship.

3 Document three or more years experience teaching English at the secondary school level.

4. Provide an original Bachelor's degree (This will be returned as soon as it is documented).

5. Achieve a minimal level score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

6. Demonstrate a willingness to provide leadership to English teachers in your school and province.

7. Provide a letter of support from your school principal, giving permission for you to teach other English teachers in Pakistan .

8. Attend two follow-up Seminars, one in Pakistan and one in another South Asian country.


During the Institute, participants will live in a dormitory on the GWU campus and will engage in all Institute activities. Some evening and weekend activities will be required. During the Institute, there will be no time for personal visits.

Priority will be given to teachers from schools where principals are willing to support applications from two or more faculty and where the principal agrees to have all English teaching faculty participate in follow-up training.

Principals of teachers selected as Institute participants will be requested to attend a Principal's Orientation in Islamabad .
